For a long time, I approached the new year the way most of us do - with a list.
Goals. Habits. Things to fix.
Things to improve.
Versions of myself I thought I needed to become.
But over time, I realized something:
Resolutions can feel rigid. A theme feels intentional.
Instead of trying to overhaul my life overnight, I’ve started choosing a personal theme - something that guides my decisions, energy, and habits in a way that feels aligned instead of forced.
Because intentional living isn’t about extremes.
It’s about direction.
Why I Choose a Theme Instead of a Resolution
A resolution asks:
“What will I change?”
A theme asks:
“How do I want to feel? How do I want to move through my life?”
That shift changes everything.
A personal theme gives you:
- Flexibility instead of pressure
- Clarity instead of overwhelm
- Alignment instead of performance
It becomes a filter for your choices.
Not a rulebook - a compass.
And unlike a resolution, a theme doesn’t “fail.” It evolves with you.
The Energy I’m Leaning Into
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what actually supports sustainable growth - not momentum alone.
Here’s what keeps coming up for me:
Rest
- Slowing down without apologizing
- Listening when my body asks for less
- Letting quiet seasons be quiet
- Resting now to move better later

Self-Trust
- Listening to my inner voice
- Choosing what I know is right
- Backing myself fully
- Moving forward anyway

Alignment
- Saying no without over-explaining
- Making choices that match my values
- Releasing what drains me
- Moving with clarity

Joy
- Choosing what actually feels fun
- Being present instead of rushing
- Laughing more, scrolling less
- Joy without performance

Expansion
- Letting myself want more
- Saying yes before I feel ready
- Stretching past comfort zones
- Trusting growth

Discipline
- Doing the basics consistently
- Follow-through over motivation
- Habits that work on normal days
- Structure that makes life easier

Not all at once. Not perfectly.
Just intentionally.
How to Choose Your Own Personal Theme
If you want to try this approach to intentional living, ask yourself:
- What do I want more of this season?
- What feels out of alignment?
- Where am I craving softness - or structure?
- What kind of energy do I want to carry into my daily life?
Your theme doesn’t need to be aesthetic or impressive.
It just needs to feel true.
Some examples could be:
- Clarity
- Consistency
- Ease
- Strength
- Expansion
- Simplicity
- Radiance
Let it guide how you plan your days.
Let it influence the habits you build.
Let it anchor the choices that shape your year.
The Small Rituals Matter

Intentional living isn’t built in grand gestures.
It’s built in daily rituals.
What you eat.
How you move.
What you repeat to yourself.
The boundaries you set.
The products you choose to support your glow.
It’s not about perfection.
It’s about alignment in ordinary moments.
That’s the energy I’m carrying forward - and the energy behind everything I create at Glow Girl Wellness.
Not pressure.
Not performance.
Just thoughtful, feel-good living that actually supports real life.
If you’re choosing a personal theme this season, I’d love to know what it is.
What word are you carrying with you?
