10 Things That Actually Help When Your Brain Won't Slow Down (A Gemini Season Wellness Guide)

10 Things That Actually Help When Your Brain Won't Slow Down (A Gemini Season Wellness Guide)

If your brain has been feeling extra loud lately - starting everything, finishing nothing, overthinking all of it - you're not imagining it. And you're definitely not alone.

We're a week into Gemini season (May 20–June 21), and if there's one thing this season does, it's turn up the mental volume. More ideas, more tabs open, more processing happening at once than usual. It's fast, it's restless, and it can feel like your brain just will not quit.

Here's the thing though: you don't need to slow down to feel better. You just need the right small shifts to work with the energy instead of against it.

These are 10 things that actually help - no overhaul required, no perfect routine needed. Just real, practical resets for when your mind won't stop.

1. Stop Trying to Slow Down - Try Redirecting Instead

A restless mind resists stillness. The more you try to force calm, the more anxious the energy gets. Instead of fighting it, give it somewhere useful to go. Start the thing you've been putting off. Redirect the energy rather than suppress it.

Don't fight the energy. Redirect it.

2. Make Something With Your Hands Before You Make a Decision

When your head is everywhere, your body becomes your anchor. Cook something simple, stretch for five minutes, tidy one small space. Physical action brings you back faster than thinking does - and from that grounded place, decisions come much more easily.

Get out of your head. Get into your hands.

3. Drink Something That Requires You to Be Present

This is my personal favorite right now - and it's simpler than it sounds.

A collagen latte, a matcha, herbal tea - something slow that you actually have to sit with. Make it intentionally. Sit down with it. Phone face down. You can't rush it, and that's entirely the point.

You can't rush it. That's the point.

My Current Favorite: The Radiance Reset Latte (hot or iced)

What you'll need:

  • 1 scoop Radiance collagen powder
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1 tsp matcha powder or 1 shot espresso
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • honey or vanilla to taste

For a hot latte, whisk your matcha with ¼ cup hot water, or brew your espresso. Froth your warm milk with the collagen powder until fully dissolved. Pour your matcha or espresso into a cup first, then pour the milk over the top. For an iced version, fill a glass with ice, pour in your milk and collagen first, then pour your matcha or espresso over the top. Finish with cinnamon and whatever makes it yours. Enjoy! 🌸

This is self-care that actually does something. Collagen supports your skin, hair, nails and gut from the inside - and the ritual of making it slowly is a nervous system reset in itself.

4. The Thought That Keeps Coming Back Isn't Random

Your mind loops on unresolved things because it's trying to tell you something. Instead of pushing the thought away, write it down and actually look at it. The loop usually stops the moment you acknowledge what's underneath it.

The loop stops when you listen.

5. Your Most Important Task Is Probably the One You Keep Skipping

A busy brain loves starting new things and avoiding what feels heavy. Sound familiar? Identify the one thing you keep skipping and do just the first small step today. Not the whole thing - just the first step.

The avoidance is information.

6. Unfinished Things Take Up More Mental Space Than Finished Ones

Your brain quietly keeps score of everything uncompleted. Go through your mental list and make a decision about each item: do it, decide it can wait, or let it go entirely. The mental clutter clears almost immediately once you make the call.

Done, decided, or released. Pick one.

7. Rest That Involves Screens Isn't Actually Rest

Your brain is already processing more than it can handle right now. Screen time adds to the load - it doesn't subtract from it. Tonight, try 20 minutes of something genuinely input-free before bed. A bath, a walk, sitting outside with a candle. Notice how different you feel tomorrow morning.

Your brain needs silence, not just stillness.

8. Your Brain Isn't Broken - It's Just Overstimulated

This one is less of an action and more of a permission slip: next time it all feels like too much, step away from whatever you're doing for five minutes before trying to push through. Don't add more strategies, more lists, more pressure. Subtract something instead.

More isn't always the answer. Less is.

9. You Don't Need to Feel Calm to Function Well

You don't have to wait until the buzzy feeling passes to start. Pick one thing - just one - and begin exactly as you are right now. Buzzy, scattered, overwhelmed and all. Calm comes after starting, not before.

You don't wait for calm. You create it.

10. You Don't Have to Earn Rest by Finishing Everything First

Give yourself one thing off your list today. Not postponed - actually removed. This season is asking a lot of your mind and you don't have to pretend otherwise. You're allowed to be tired, to do less, to choose rest before everything is done.

Rest isn't a reward. It's a requirement.

Why This Is All Feeling Extra Loud Right Now

If you've made it through all 10 and something clicked - here's the full picture.

We're in Gemini season ♊ (May 20–June 21). Gemini is a fast-moving, mentally-driven energy. It's the season of ideas, communication, curiosity - and yes, scattered thoughts and a brain that won't quit. It's not permanent. It's seasonal.

This is the whole reason I created Glow Girl Wellness - to make astrology practical so you can actually use it as a tool for your self-care. Your zodiac season isn't just something to read about. It's a real shift in energy that affects how you feel, how you think, and what your body and mind actually need.

When you understand that, self-care stops being generic advice and starts being something that's actually built for you.
